Last Thursday, Rathbun Insurance reaffirmed our commitment to the Lansing community by participating in a significant back-to-school event in support of Communities in Schools in Michigan and hosted by radio station Power 96.5. Our Chief Executive Officer, Ben Rathbun, and Chief Operating Officer, Laura Stoken, joined forces with volunteers from Jackson National Life, Bridgewater Interiors Corporate, Lansing Debutantes, Zap Zone XL, and the Lansing Police Department to make a difference for local students by packing and distributing 1,200 backpacks.
Starting bright and early at 8:00 AM, our team and an assembly line of volunteers worked tirelessly to stuff over 1,200 backpacks with essential school supplies, including binders, notebooks, colored pencils, crayons, and more. The event continued at DeMartin Stadium from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, where families gathered to receive the backpacks. Zappy from Zap Zone XL was on hand to greet and welcome everyone with a smile, adding a touch of fun to the day. We’re proud to report that all 1,200 backpacks were distributed to students, ensuring they have the tools they need for a successful school year.
Communities In Schools of Michigan is part of the national network of Communities In Schools that ensures every student, regardless of race, zip code, or socioeconomic background has what they need to realize their potential in school and beyond. Working directly inside 73 schools across the state, they connect students to caring adults and community resources that help them see, confront, and overcome the barriers that stand between them and a brighter future. That's why we were so thankful to attend and lend a hand to the back pack stuffing and distributing event held last week,
At Rathbun Insurance, we believe in the power of community and living out our vision of "Being There Matters Most." This event was a true reflection of that commitment, and we’re honored to have been part of such an impactful day. Thank you to all our partners and volunteers who made this possible!
