At Rathbun Insurance, we believe in the power of community and the importance of contributing to its growth. Our Chief Operating Officer, Laura Stoken, exemplifies this commitment through her
active role on the Board of Directors for the Saginaw Street Corridor Improvement Authority (SSCIA). Rathbun Account Manager, Kenwon Simpson also participated in this event by supporting the Boards communications sub-committee. Laura and Kenwon had the honor of standing alongside SSCIA board members Tiffany Dowling, President of M3 Group, and Diane Sanborn, owner of Cozi Koi, as well as Lansing Mayor Andy Schor and representatives from th eArts Council of Greater Lansing, to unveil Lansing's newest placemaking project—a vibrant public art display aimed at enhancing the city’s cultural landscape.
The project, led by the Lansing Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) in partnership with the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, celebrates Lansing’s vibrant community through public art. Theinitiative called for seven local artists to design mini murals on giant letters spelling out “LANSING.” Each of the six-foot letters feature a unique, Lansing-themed artwork, turning the installation into a landmark that reflects the city's culture, diversity, and creative spirit.
The outstanding artists include:
L - Emily Wilson
A - Teresa Dunn
N - Jasmyne Wells
S - Cait Schneider
I - Sara Pulver
N - Theresa Rosado
G - Marissa Tawney Thaler
The SSCIA has been a driving force behind many community revitalization efforts, and this project is no exception. Not only does it beautify the city, but it also supports local artists and invites the community to experience art in a public space. Artists chosen for this project received compensation for their work, along with all necessary materials, making this a fantastic opportunity to showcase their talent and contribute to Lansing’s ever-growing creative scene.
At Rathbun Insurance, we are proud to see Laura, Kenwon and the SSCIA leading efforts to make Lansing a more beautiful and engaging place to live and work. It’s this kind of collaboration and vision that aligns with our core belief that “Being There Matters Most.”
Let’s continue to invest in the city we love!
