We are thrilled to announce that Rathbun Insurance, in partnership with Auto-Owners Insurance, will once again be sponsoring ScrapFest! Our support for this incredible event has been unwavering since its inception, and we are proud to be part of an initiative that gives so much back to the community.

ScrapFest began as a unique scrap metal artwork competition and has evolved into a full-fledged art festival that celebrates up-cycled and repurposed artwork. What started as a small competition now features a variety of exciting activities and events for all ages. This year’s festival will include:

• Scrap Metal Sculpture Competition: Teams gather at Friedland Industries’ processing plant in Old Town Lansing to pick up to 500 lbs of scrap metal (or 250 lbs for the Small Piece category). They then have a month to create a stunning sculpture, which is later auctioned off in Old Town Lansing on Turner St in mid-July.
• Eco-Art Booth Vendors: Artists and vendors who specialize in eco-friendly and up-cycled art will showcase their creative and sustainable works.
• Family Activities: Fun and engaging activities designed to entertain the whole family.
• Live Music and Food: Enjoy live performances from local musicians and savor delicious food from various vendors.
• The Great Scrap Run: An 8k run/walk event, including a family fun run, encouraging fitness and community participation.
• Refashion Show: A spectacular show featuring fashion made from repurposed materials.

We are particularly excited about the charitable aspect of ScrapFest. This year, 70% of the proceeds from the sculpture auction will go directly to the talented artists, 20% will support the continuation and growth of ScrapFest, and 10% will be donated to a local charity (Lansing SAVE).Lansing SAVE is a wonderful organization dedicated to helping local youth build savings for their future education.
