It’s Mentorship Day at J.W. Sexton High School, and Rathbun Insurance was proud to show up and share the power of possibility with the next generation.

Our CEO, Ben Rathbun, and Commercial Account Manager, Emily Harte-Merchand, spent the day in Ms. Lovitt’s class talking with students about careers in insurance, the importance of community, and the many paths available in the business world right here in Lansing.

From explaining what insurance really means to breaking down the wide variety of roles available—whether it’s sales, service, claims, or marketing—Ben and Emily opened students’ eyes to an industry that often flies under the radar. But here’s the truth: insurance is one of the most stable, people-focused industries out there, and it’s growing.

In fact, Michigan is home to over 100 insurance companies headquartered right here in our state, making it a powerhouse for those interested in careers with purpose and potential.
