At Rathbun Insurance, fostering meaningful conversations and deeper connections is at the heart of what we do. For nearly a year now, we have been engaging in monthly DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) chats led by the remarkable Laurel Tilot-Jezowski. These sessions have been invaluable in helping us grow individually and as a team, but yesterday we took it a step further with a special field trip.
Our CEO, Ben Rathbun, who is a passionate supporter of the arts community, had the pleasure of facilitating a field trip for our team to the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State
University. The museum staff curated an incredible experience that allowed us to connect with each other on a deeper level by sharing our lived experiences through art. To say it was magical is an understatement.
Art has the power to invite conversation, and that’s exactly what happened during our visit. One of the standout moments was when we interacted with Esmaa Mohamoud’s powerful installation, Complex Dreams. This piece sparked a beautiful discussion about how we interpret art through our individual perspectives and life experiences. It reminded us that complex problems require equally complex solutions, a message that resonated deeply with our team.
As we continue on our journey of growth at Rathbun Insurance, we aim to better understand one another and the world around us. Through initiatives like our DEI chats and experiences like this museum visit, we’re building stronger bonds as individuals and as a team—thriving together as we navigate the complex dreams and realities of our world.
